Our principal challenge is to improve the shopping experience by detecting duplicate products for sale in the catalog and merging them. Merchants on Amazon.com provide information about the products they want to sell. Amazon attempts to match these product data submissions to items in its catalog so that it can display offers for the same product on a single page. Poorly structured or incomplete data makes this problem very challenging and often results in duplicate products getting created in the catalog. These duplicate products are shown in search results and end up confusing customers, leading to a bad customer experience. The Darwin team detects these duplicate products in the Amazon.com catalog using an innovative mix of Information Retrieval, Data Mining and Text Analysis algorithms and human intelligence harnessed via the Amazon Mechanical Turk. We then automatically merge products detected as duplicates together, improving customer experience and the quality of the catalog.

We are also responsible for a variety of other Catalog-related projects such as placing Product Advertisements on pages, automatically extracting important product features from the product description with a view to improving the discovery (search and browse) experience on the website and detecting egregious cases of poor quality data provided by sellers.

We are a highly-motivated, co-operative and fun loving team who thrive on solving challenging problems with innovation. As part of this team you will be analyzing data, developing new algorithms, building large-scale distributed software systems in Java using open source technologies such as Apache Lucene and JBoss and other Amazon.com proprietary technologies.

We’re changing the way business gets done by creating a platform that enables people to control their identities online, manage their most valued professional relationships, get unique insights to help them in their jobs, and develop new relationships.

We're looking for superb analytical minds to expand our team that will build some of the most innovative products at LinkedIn. You should be extremely intelligent, have a quantitative background, and be able to learn quickly and work independently. This is the perfect job for someone who's really smart, driven, and extremely skilled at creatively solving problems. A strong background in statistics, data mining, machine learning, information retrieval, programming, and product design is a plus, but most importantly you've got to start with what we can't teach...intellectual sharpness and creativity.

This is a unique opportunity to help define and build a new product and engineering team within a mid-sized (360 employees), globally-recognized, energetic, ambitious, and profitable pre-IPO startup. LinkedIn has amassed an incredible dataset, which we use to deliver highly personalized experiences for all our users. Our group also leverages our unique dataset, our creativity, and our skill with quantitative analysis to design and and build products like "people you may know", "who's viewed my profile", "jobs for you", and "company profiles" and core data infrastructure on which many of our products rely on (e.g. standardizing companies). The environment here is optimized for speed--for example, within a week of the initial concept for "viewers of this profile also viewed", it was live on the site. There are many products along these lines that you can help improve, develop and invent. The work is both intellectually rewarding and delivers important value to our users. In addition, the work's varied: one week, you may be involved in predicting which ads a specific user is likely to click on (profile targeted advertising), and the next, working on a model that decides whether 'Webex, Inc' is the same as 'Webex Communications' (it isn't). Changing the way business gets done around the world is no easy task, which is why we only hire the best and the brightest people who are motivated to challenge the norms, continually innovate and learn, and help others. If you fit this profile, then LinkedIn will be a rewarding and interesting place for you.

Ever thought of how you would verify software that mines petabytes of data to produce metrics that are business critical. How would you verify that metrics are meaningful? How would you test that metrics are indeed accurate? If you want to play a key part in building the largest and most innovative Business Intelligence and advanced analytics system in the world. Come talk to us!

Microsoft online services generate huge amount of data ranging from user interaction logs, web documents, user feedback, to system performance data. The data contains valuable information for building the #1 search engine to serve people's information needs. The data is also critical for making appropriate business decisions. The main challenge is to effectively process the data, discover information and put it into action. We are developing advanced and practical data mining, and machine learning techniques to derive information to understand user intent, discover patterns to improve search relevance and results ranking, detect and filter bot traffic, spam, and noise, and measure relevance and user satisfaction quickly and effectively, identify weak points of the search engine, discover system performance systems, measure/understand the health of the online business, and many more. We also work on techniques to manage and process petabytes of data efficiently and effectively. Our BI pipelines use Cosmos, a highly-scalable, highly-available distributed storage/processing infrastructure to collect massive data and in conjunction of SQL server and SQL reporting service to perform analysis on the data and expose results to business teams, Bing feature teams and leadership teams.

The Bing Infrastructure Data Mining team is looking for experienced SDET to contribute to test these unique and challenging problems. Verify that the data pipeline is fully functional, that the metrics produced are reliable, meaningful and accurate, so that the decisions made on them are sound. Thank you. 18106xAnalytics ScientistMountain ViewCALinkedInhttp://www.datashaping.com/jobs18106x.shtml?source=latproLinkedIn is used by more than 38 million professionals around the world to exchange information, ideas and opportunities.
