Statistical Consultant (Insightful / Splus), Seattle
Insightful Corp (NASDAQ: IFUL) currently has an opening for a Statistical Consultant. This individual will have a strong statistical background and good experience in using statistical software for data analysis and statistical modeling, such as S-PLUS or R. At the same time, this person will be a strong communicator and able to execute projects at customer sites as a Statistical Consultant. The successful person will be self-motivated, pragmatic and solution oriented. He/She will be able to take on multiple tasks, projects and responsibilities without losing focus.
Education and Training: Master or equivalent in applied (bio-) statistics or mathematics or of a related quantitative field. (2+ minimum number of years)
Job Description:
- Analysis, design and implementation/programming of Data Analysis/Data Mining/Business Intelligence projects. This will include participating in the formulation of proposals, project planning, task allocation and tracking, statistical analysis, algorithm and application implementations, testing delivery and training.
- Plan and execute software training and project knowledge transfer to our customers.
- Works in cooperation with users, marketing and others in the company to customize features in company products.
- Assist with services and software pre-sales efforts.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of commercial statistical packages (S-PLUS, SPSS, SAS, etc.) is a must, as is good commercial awareness, as well as experience in statistical programming and modeling.
- Strong experience with a variety of statistical estimation and forecasting methods.
- 2-3 years of experience in statistical consulting are required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work I a multi-disciplinary team are required.
- Good project management skills.
- Experience in working is a software team environment and with remote developments teams is an asset.
- Competency in databases (SQL, Oracle), programming languages (C, S, Java), operating systems (Window – 2000, 2003, UNIX, Linux) is an asset.
