Football Statistician (England)
Fforde are seeking PhD or MSc graduates WITH or WITHOUT commercial
experience for a client working with Football Statistics.
You need to have excellent data analysis and statistical skills , coupled
with an enthusiasm for football
JOB ROLE:
- Develop strategy to identify individual bets and portfolios of bets
that offer superior returns.
- Liaise with clients to determine risk attitudes and desired portfolio
characteristics.
- Implement optimal decision methods to actively manage client
portfolios of bets.
- Supervise the acquisition and management of historic and current price
data.
- Re-appraise the financial literature on no-arbitrage pricing in
incomplete markets.
- Identify and act on "premium" betting opportunities in real-time.
- Monitor the statistics and computing literature on data-mining and
knowledge discovery in databases.
- Maintain databases for match outcomes, covariates, qualitative and
quantitative expert knowledge, and quoted prices for bets.
- Maintain documentation of software modules.
- Assist in implementing inferential and portfolio choice calculations.
- Manage predictions and portfolios on a day-to-day basis.
- Continually review statistical models using newly-available data.
- Monitor performance of portfolios, relative to their predicted
characteristics.
- Periodically review statistical models by cross-validation.
- Explore possibilities for "parallelisation" of numerically intensive
methods.

Monitor the statistical literature on football outcome modelling.
- Review and monitor the sports science literature on football team
performance.
