Database Marketing SAS Consultant
Our client is looking for a Database Marketing SAS Consultant with hands on SAS programming and an understanding of relational databases and data modeling to join their team. This group does small business lending. The consultant will work on a team that is responsible for the architecture, design and development of the Marketing Analytics Repository, a consolidation of marketing and performance data, sourced from multiple systems and platforms. They are going to assist with database development using primarily SAS programming. They are looking for a highly experienced SAS programmer, preferably with experience working in a marketing group and Oracle, as well. Individual will also be involved in requirements gathering across multiple business units and translating these into programming projects.
The position requires strong partnering, organizational and communicational skills and experience in gathering requirements across multiple functional teams. Individual must have experience in turning these requirements into a structured plan. Plan will include development, testing and implementation goals that are focused on automation, rich metadata and strict quality controls in a database environment. Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring accuracy and timelines are not compromised.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for translating business requirements into functional specifications and assuming responsibility for the end-to-end planning, development and implementation processes. Duties may include:
- Research, analyze and determine information needs and dataflow requirements
- Assist in the data architecture and data cleansing methodology and implementation
- Programming and automation using SAS and SAS/ETL Tools
- Testing and controls
- Documentation, maintaining metadata
- Communicate results to our internal customers and external customers
Required Experience:
- Senior level SAS Programmer/Analyst
- Highly experienced with SAS Macros, DO Loops and de-bugging
- Experience in Data Warehouse/Repository and DBMS design and development
- Experience in performance optimization and auditing controls
- Experience in SAS, SQL (or PROC SQL), and Unix shell scripts.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Strong documentation and metadata skills.
Desired Experience:
- Previous work on the planning, architecture and implementation of a data warehouse
- Experience with ETL tools, specifically SAS/ETL
- Have experience with reporting tools – preferably Cognos ReportNet, SAS Enterprise Guide
