Senior Derivative Trader 1821 Job Description Objectives: • Partner with lines of business and Investments Dept associates to assist the International segment in achieving their business objectives through portfolio management and asset/liability management activities. Principal objectives are to promote integration of practices and characteristics while developing value added portfolio and asset/liability management strategies. • This is a newly created position to provide portfolio management oversight and direction to International operations. Responsibilities: • Establish a broad uniform International investment management operating framework. Monitor and oversee International investments and related ALM activities. Monitor International risk metrics such as scenario analysis and cash flow matching. • Work closely with local country portfolio managers to leverage the ALM process and drive International’s operating results through value added portfolio management, risk management and ALM. • Understand MetLife’s international businesses and their products. Develop a strong understanding of the international markets, including assets, liabilities, regulatory, accounting and ALM strategies. • Identify business-driven issues and initiatives. Develop and manage projects to solve ALM issues or seize opportunities. • Translate International’s business objectives into practical portfolio/ALM strategies that can be implemented by the local portfolio managers. • Represent Investments Dept on International ALM matters, including presenting to ALM Committees or other senior management groups. Co-Chair the International ALM Regional Working Groups. • Support International M&A activity. • Work closely with local country portfolio managers, finance and investment associates to develop portfolios’ benchmarks, objectives and guidelines, including use of derivatives. Support the Investment components of the International business planning process. • Support and approve new product development from an Investments ALM perspective. o Understand risks, as well as the need/ability to hedge those risks. o Understand product pricing and work closely with local country portfolio managers on asset portfolio construction. Job Requirements • 10+ years of experience in Investments or the lines of business, particularly international experience is desirable. • Very strong interpersonal, communication and project management skills. • MBA, CFA or FSA a plus. • Ability to balance multiple tasks and responsibilities. • ALM, portfolio management experience a plus. • Travel: 20% – 35% (international)
