Principal Engineer - Honeywell
This is a Senior Research Scientist position within Honeywell's Decision Technologies group, situated within the Advanced Technology Division of Honeywell's Aerospace business. Honeywell Aerospace is a $10B dollar business building a variety of commercial and military aircraft, spacecraft, and ground vehicle products. The Advanced Technology division is responsible for the development and transition of new technologies into the existing Honeywell Aerospace product line, and assist in the development on new markets, products or services. The Decision Technologies group focuses on the development of planning, scheduling or other problem solving technologies for addressing operational and logistics problems within both commercial and military domains.
This position has the following responsibilities: Performing both basic and applied research. Secure funding from both internal and external sources (such as DARPA, ONR, ARL, AFRL, etc.) Lead small teams of researchers and programmers (2 to 12 individuals), including virtual teams. Perform project management discipline on projects.Submit technical papers to refereed conferences (such as AAAI, IJCAI, ICAPS, etc.) and Journals (e.g., AIJ, JAIR, Constraints, etc.). Maintain visibility in the academic/technical community through activities such as running workshop or sitting on standards comities. Defining the development direction of a portfolio of technologies. dentifying opportunities for inserting technologies into Honeywell Aerospace's produces and services. Performing technology transfer activities.
Basic Qualifications: PhD in computer science or Engineering required. U.S. Citizenship or permanent residence (Green Card) status required. Minimum 7 years work experience in research and development.
Additional Qualifications: The selected candidate must demonstrate excellent verbal and written presentation and communication skills. The ability to win external contracts and promote technologies to internal business and management is highly beneficial. The selected candidate will possess both a demonstrated ability to perform cutting-edge research as well as excellent program management skills. Possess a leadership style that fosters open communication and problem solving while driving for results and meeting commitments.
Salary and Terms:$75,000 – 115,000
