Data Mining / Text Mining Analyst, Microsoft / MSN (Seattle, WA)

Job Description
Conduct applied research in the area of contextual advertising. Research and experiment on text mining and data mining algorithms for user contextual understanding, publisher content understanding and organization, and real time content summarization. Research and experiment on technologies for opinion mining and sentiment detection. Provide complete solutions to business problems using text analysis, data mining techniques, and statistics. Work on projects which may include case studies, methodology research, tool evaluations, model development/refinement and deployment. Serve or grow into subject matter expert on contextual advertising, text mining, and content summarization needs for MSN.

Qualifications:

• Extensive knowledge and/or education in text mining
• Preferred experience solving content based targeting, marketing and business problems using text mining and data mining on large real-world business data sets
• Broad experience with various data analysis tools, data mining tools, and statistical packages
• Familiarity with applying data mining techniques (i.e. classification, clustering, association mining, forecasting), statistics and information retrieval methods to real-world data
• Superior communications skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to work independently and in a team to research innovative solutions to challenging business problems
• Attention to detail and data accuracy
• Good scripting and rapid prototyping skills, i.e. preferred fluency in the following: SQL, Perl, C#
• MS degree or PhD (preferred) in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent is required for this position
