Direct Marketing Analyst (Berkley, CA)

Mal Warwick Associates, one of the nation’s premier fundraising consulting agencies working with charitable organizations and progressive political candidates and causes, is looking for a Senior Analyst to join our team in Berkeley.

The Senior Analyst will be responsible for taking analytical projects from inception to completion. The primary customer for this position is our client-facing consulting team members. As a member of this client consulting team, and an occasional client-facing position also, you will play a central role in delivering on-time client reports, completing analyses and projects that will help grow our client base, increase profits, drive marketing effort insight, and deliver high levels of client satisfaction. The ideal candidate should be a results-oriented marketing professional who has advanced analytical skills, creative problem solving skills and strong project management skills. The Senior Analyst is responsible for the quality of the deliverables, reporting performance and scalability. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of direct marketing and the ability to process and translate large amounts of data into actionable insights and recommendations.

Job Scope

1. Work directly with consulting staff to meet their needs as primary customer
2. Ensure on-time delivery of company performance reports and work to improve performance and value of existing reports, as well as design, develop and support reporting tools
3. Monitor client program performance and make proactive recommendations to improve campaign effectiveness and maximize results
4. Refine existing, and develop new, data file segmentation models
5. Troubleshoot data issues, validate result sets, recommend and implement process improvements, provide ad-hoc reports and analysis
6. Client-facing responsibilities including; business need investigation and understanding, defining project goals and deployment plans, data collection and revisions, outcome reporting, and client service meetings
7. Measure, analyze, interpret and report key benchmarking trends for individual and collective client performance
8. Determine best practices, conduct industry and competitive research/analysis and present findings
9. Develop original recommendations through independent analysis of direct marketing data
10. Provide business analysis, forecasting expertise and recommendations to support new analytic product and service opportunities

Required Qualifications

1. Five or more years work experience, preferably in a direct marketing analyst role
2. BA required, advanced degree in business, mathematics or statistics desirable
3. Experience in creating original customer segments and models for marketing application
4. Expert in statistical analysis and with data mining tools
5. Exceptional analytic skills as well as a strong interest in all aspects of direct marketing from creative development through post campaign analysis
6. Strong PC skills and proficiency with a variety of software applications, including SQL, Excel, Power Point and Word
7. The ability to focus on projects to their successful completion
8. Ability to articulate analytical results (both written and verbal) in an easily understood manner, leading to actionable business recommendations
9. Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment
10. Ability to effectively partner with other internal business units and clients
