Database Marketing Manager, financial district (San Francisco, CA)

Summary

The Manager – Database Marketing manages all aspects of Database Marketing, including campaign planning and execution, performance reporting, campaign analysis and optimization, and database management. Esurance uses a disciplined and data-rich “test and learn” methodology, which the Manager – Database Marketing will use to coordinate testing, analysis, and implementation of campaigns across direct mail, email, and telemarketing channels. This position reports to the Vice President of Direct Marketing.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage design, execution, and optimization of database marketing programs across email, direct mail, and telemarketing channels including post campaign database updates. Develop and implement integrated targeted marketing campaigns across these channels.
  • Manage a team to drive continuous improvement in campaign optimization and to acquire best-in-class customer acquisition practices. Provide team members with appropriate direction and feedback to constantly improve performance and grow professionally.
  • Collaborate with partners for data selection and list targeting, mail production, analytics, delivery performance, and fulfillment. Manage vendor relationships and negotiate favorable performance contracts.
  • Lead the development of database marketing analytics, such as statistical modeling, customer profiling, segmentation analysis, data mining, and other types of quantitative and qualitative analysis to improve program effectiveness. Manage the integration and maintenance of a central prospect database for more sophisticated data-driven campaign optimization.
  • Develop and manage execution of short-term and long-term marketing plans within target ROI and on schedule. Operate within company principles, goals, and budgets.
  • Collaborate effectively within the Sales and Marketing department and other parts of the organization to achieve common goals.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements including FCRA, CAN-SPAM, Do Not Call, and other privacy regulations.
Qualifications

The successful candidate must have the following experience, skills, and education:

  • 7-10 years experience in quantitative analysis, data mining and/or marketing
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in techniques and tools relevant to statistical modeling and analysis including a high level of proficiency with relational databases and business intelligence software such as MS SQL, Excel, OLAP tools, etc.
  • Proclivity to apply data-driven techniques to marketing programs
  • Ability to provide leadership to and work constructively with a diverse team of professionals
  • Ability to develop and prioritize own efforts and the efforts of others to achieve measurable performance goals and support the company’s overall business plan, goals, and metrics
  • Functional understanding of Web technology
  • Experience in the consumer financial services industry preferred
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics or related field required; MBA a plus
