Data Analyst (Bay Area, CA)
The Data Analyst will join a world renowned, multidisciplinary team working on established large epidemiological studies. Areas of research include the distribution, determinants, clinical features and treatment of Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of epidemiologic and statistical methods through formal training and/or clinical research experience, and excellent statistical programming skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities will include, in consultation with a multidisciplinary team:
1. Designing and implementing a data cleaning system
2. Working with data entry staff and/or project managers to resolve data inconsistencies
3. Preparing datasets for analysis
4. Developing standard reports to provide detailed and aggregate summaries
5. Writing and running programs for data analysis (frequency tables, conditional and unconditional logistic regression, etc.)
Other tasks may include:
1. Collaborating with neurologists, epidemiologists, data managers, biostatisticians and basic scientists, with emphasis on analysis of epidemiological studies of Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders
2. Assisting in and/or initiating preparation and submission of funding proposals, project reports, scientific presentations, and publications
3. Helping to coordinate and supervise clinical research staff involved in project data management and analysis
4. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
This position may involve some travel to Investigator meetings.
Status: Full-time; exempt
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•SKILLS: Proficiency in SAS and/or SPSS and other statistical and database software. Ability to work with datasets in different formats. Familiarity with arrays, macros, and calculations across rows. Good communication and writing skills.
•KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of epidemiologic and statistical methods.
•EXPERIENCE: Experience with cleaning and restructuring datasets.
•EDUCATION: Master’s in Public Health (MPH) in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or related fields.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with Data Ease, TELEform, and/or SPSS Data Entry. Experience in clinical research.
