Director, Biostats (South East England, UK)

ROLE:

To ensure effective running and consistent application of Biostatistics best practice techniques and strategy across area of responsibility, likely to encompass several therapeutic areas and/or a geographic site. Highly networked, well-recognised and reputable expert in a number of areas.

TASKS:

• Lead problem solving for project work using own technical expertise and drawing on an established network of outside experts. Representing Biostatistics functions at International Project Team meetings, negotiating priority and resource management decisions with other functional heads (e.g., therapeutic area, regulatory affairs, project management) that are consistent with therapeutic area and study needs.
• Significant contribution to non-project work, taking a lead in identifying areas for improvement in quality, efficiency or timeliness, proactively driving process and infrastructure improvements and interfacing with other areas outside Biostatistics, where necessary, to influence others to achieve improvements.
• Managing and developing team of direct reports using appropriate formal and informal processes. Responsible for mentoring individuals and ensuring efficient allocation of resources within area of responsibility.
• Pursuing individual professional development and continuing education opportunities, through research and the publishing of multiple papers. Proactive involvement as an officer in a number of professional statistical or scientific societies. Also highly sought after by external scientific advice committees.

Masters degree in Biostatistics or related discipline required. You must have a strong background in the relevant area with a proven track record including leading at least one major submission. You must also have worked on global projects and with the FDA or European Regulatory Authorities. You will be expected to take on significant compound responsibilities and must have the ability to champion best statistical practice with their colleagues inside the company and with advisors.
