Salary is between £54,000 and £76,000 (salary can be negotiated for
exceptional candidates).
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is the government department
responsible for collecting and publishing official statistics about the
UK’s society and economy. We carry out the ten-yearly census and are also
responsible for the registration of life events in England and Wales
through the General Register Office. Our work is vital to the government,
local and health authorities, industry, researchers, students and the
public. We inform decision-making at all levels with information that is
official and independent.
We are seeking a senior statistician or survey methodologist to take on
the role as Director of one of its two methodology divisions.
The position holder will have responsibilities for the methodological
aspects of the 2011 Census and for statistical methodology and research
for other ONS programmes. Specific responsibilities in addition to those
for the Census will be determined by the applicant’s skills and
qualifications.
The applicant will be required to demonstrate the following Senior Civil

- Strategic Thinking
