Senior Research and Development Scientist (San Francisco, CA)
Project Hi-Fi (www.projecthifi.com) is a venture-backed stealth consumer Internet startup located in San Francisco building an industry-first application in a $100B mark et segment that touches 50% of the US population. ( No, really. Send us your resume if you are interested in hearing more. ).
The team consists of 10 people and the founders have experience at leading consumer brands including Rhapsody, Snapfish, Quicken and PayPal. Angel investors include Baseline Ventures ( Steve Anderson and Silicon Valley angel Ron Conway (Google, Yahoo), Geoff Ralston (former Chief Product Officer at Yahoo!), Aydin Senkut (one of the first Google employees), the seed investors of PayPal, and Harvard Business School professors.
We are currently looking for a Senior Research and Development Scientist. Someone who is adept at taking large, raw data sets and crafting them into predictive models. Someone who thinks it’s amusing we have been calling this role “Brain in a Jar” internally. Jar is optional, you are free to keep your brain where it operates best.
Role :
•Research algorithms for automation, data fusion and decision support
•Research real time algorithms and develop predicative models
•Help the team apply algorithms and models in commercial products
•Work with large, raw data sets
•Work with Development team on data visualization, information architecture and interface designs
•With minimal guidance, gather, examine, and analyze data; write technical specifications for manipulating data
•Design and implement new characteristic generation logic for predictive and action-effect modeling
Qualifications:
•MS or PhD in statistics, mathematics or related field with statistical analysis background
•Solid background in designing, programming, and documenting complex software systems on Windows and Unix/Linux, and a minimum of two years of experience as a professional software developer.
•Experience with AI algorithms, human-computer interaction design, and social network analysis or link analysis
•Familiarity with computer graphics, data mining, database management, and XML
•Familiarity with Java and/or C++ or other similar object oriented programming language.
•3+ years with MySQL
•3+ years SAS, SPSS or related experience required.
•Bonus points for Behavioral Finance background
