Financial Data Analyst - TheStreet.com (Boston, MA)

TheStreet.com Ratings is seeking a Data Analyst to assist in documenting new project specifications for a team of research analysts, maintaining performance composites and indexes in compliance with AIMR Performance Presentation Standards, and collaborating on the design of new quantitative models from large financial datasets.

Requirements:
• BA/BS in a technical discipline (computer science, finance, math, or engineering preferred).
• Minimum three to five years experience in quantitative research.
• Strong knowledge of financial modeling.
• Ability to choose from various quantitative tools and approaches to solve problems.
• Strong command of SQL and FoxPro, as well as PSS, SAS, MATLAB or other statistical software, including preparation of graphics, tables and visuals.
• Strong command of Excel.
• Excellent understanding of financial principles.
• Detail orientation and excellent communication skills.
• Prior programming work a plus.
• Experience with SQL Server 2000/2005 a plus.
• Progress toward an MBA and/or CFA a plus.

Responsibilities:
• Support a team of 10 analysts with requests for data or technical project specifications.
• Ensure that data loads are working properly.
• Create and document technical specifications that can be programmed by our IT teams.
• Draw conclusions based on historical performance data.
• Create performance illustrations for current and theoretical indices.
• Work closely with vendors to assure that performance reports are correct, timely and up to standards.
