Risk Model Validation Oversight Manager - Ohio Savings Bank (Cleveland, OH)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Risk Model Validation Manager is responsible for the development and monitoring of internal audit processes for quantitative modeling groups across the corporation. Implements practices that comply with industry and regulatory standards, makes recommendations for changes in the modeling process, and monitors changes to existing models and the development/acquisition of new models.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensures that critical models meet validation requirements.
- Develops a corporate-wide methodology for auditing and validation of all types of quantitative models.
- Provides ongoing independent monitoring of quantitative models and their assumptions and revisions.
- Maintains current and working knowledge of regulations and “best practices” for model validations.
- Responsible for obtaining and manipulating data necessary for assigned projects.
- Prepare work plans for delineating the validation requirements on a model.
- Determines test approach and what constitutes sufficient evidence to emit a validation opinion.
- Interacts with model “owners” and internal clients in a learning, validation and consulting role.
- Performs detailed reviews with management and clients on work-plan findings and opinions.
- Maintains detailed documentation, in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Interacts with external oversight parties such as external auditors and the Office of Thrift Supervision.
- Interacts with various departments across the bank, such as Capital Markets, Corporate Accounting, Information Technology, Indirect Auto Lending and Internal Audit.
- Provides assistance, information, and support to the Enterprise Risk Management function.
- Works under limited supervision and with appreciable latitude for actions and decisions.
- Deliver accurate, responsive and courteous customer service to every customer (internal & external) every time.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Graduate degree in a quantitative field, such as Financial Engineering, Operations Research, Statistics, Math or other advanced quantitative fields.
Experience:
- Minimum five years experience in finance-related field, with at least three years experience in financial modeling and validation.
Knowledge, skill and abilities:
- Consultant level knowledge of statistical concepts and measures for model validation.
- Knowledge of Mortgage Banking and hedging using Financial Derivatives.
- Familiarity with project management concepts.
- Computer literate with a very high level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Access.
- Computer programming experience in a language such as Visual Basic, SAS, or C Sharp.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Exercises sound judgment.
- Ability to take responsibility for mission-critical tasks and processes.
