Senior Statistician (San Francisco, CA)
Job Description:
The person assuming this position will work with a group of collegial, innovative, productive epidemiology and health outcomes researchers in the Division of Geriatrics who are focused on improving health for older persons.
The incumbent will help investigators determine the optimal statistical approaches for testing research hypotheses; perform and interpret statistical analyses and assist with the presentation of findings; provide technical support directly and indirectly by acting as the liaison between geriatrics and UC tech support; provide consultation for fellows and junior faculty in statistical programming and analysis; be responsible for the preparation of the statistical sections of manuscripts and preliminary data sections for extramural grants; help with the development of study protocols and data analyses; write study documentation procedures (including analysis plans, protocols and standard operating procedures); perform statistical analyses and manage the databases for the investigators in the Division of Geriatrics; design of databases and data input screens; data management; design, develop, and document quality control systems for data validation; and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
BS degree with a major in statistics or a related field and four years of professional statistical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; knowledge of advanced statistical programming and data management using STATA, SAS, Excel, FileMaker, Access, or other programs; knowledge of Windows, excellent skills in designing, maintaining, updating, and manipulating large databases; ability to provide custom designed reports using STATA, SAS, Access, or FileMaker; excellent interpersonal, organizational, teaching, communication, and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in Statistics or any relevant field; with 3-4 years of experience in statistical programming and consultation; experience in grant writing and manuscript preparation; experience in the management and analysis of large data sets and the graphical presentation of data; experience designing and managing databases for qualitative data.
