JOB DESCRIPTION
Hardware Operations Decision Support Analyst - Mountain View

This position is based in Mountain View, CA.

support Google''s technology operations.

Responsibilities:


  • Leads complex analyses and support analysis work by related groups.
  • Drive analysis to understand operations data and drive data
    based decisions.
  • Take a holistic view of technology operations and examine end-to-end
    processes and systems to determine optimal improvements.
  • Design experiments to understand current processes, evaluate
    alternatives, and measure the impact of changes.


QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements:


  • Education from recognized top university. Strong emphasis on Computer
    Science, Math, Operations, Decision Analysis, Statistics or related fields. Masters degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2-3 years decision support experience.
  • Proven ability to develop
    complex analytical models and use statistical tools e.g. SPSS, SAS, R or other
    statistical software.
  • Technical knowledge relating to data centers and critical
    infrastructure a significant plus.
  • Very comfortable using Excel for modeling and analysis.
  • Can easily switch between different data platforms (R, SPSS,
    Excel, etc.) according to goals of the project.
  • Knows how and when to perform a wide range of statistical
    analyses to compare performance over time, across different data sets
    as required.
  • Significant experience with establishing appropriate sample
    sizes, sampling, regressions and correlation analyses. Perform data
    cleaning/validation and normalization.
  • Understand effective survey and data collection techniques.
  • Perform simple economic modeling (CPA, ROI, curve smoothing,
    Pareto analysis). Can extract and explain "Marginal" vs. "Average"
    numbers, understands when to use which.
  • Can create SQL scripts to pull data from internal databases, write
    automated reports and dashboards.
  • Experience creating and using relational databases and pivot tables to
    extract information and perform data analysis on large data sets.
  • Experience forecasting and projecting key metrics based on
    available/extrapolated data.
  • Create models to analyze financial and operational impacts of existing and
    proposed processes.
  • Draw conclusions from results, communicate the implications across
    constituent groups within Google and demonstrate thought leadership around how
    best to improve.
