Database Manager/Research Consultant - Uinversity of Washington (Seattle, WA)
This position directs and oversees the collection of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and hospital trauma data from King County designated trauma hospitals and EMS agencies. The individual holding this position will write advanced computer programs, formulate hypotheses, analyze data, develop conclusions, and present research results in writing to the Trauma Care Council Central Region Quality Assurance (QA) Committee. Duties include:
• Under the guidance of the Principal Investigator, develop strategies and write advanced computer programs for the consolidation of multiple divergent data sources into accessible, restructured, and analyzable formats.
• Act as liaison between project team and significant parties including data providers and data users.
• Nurture and maintain relationships with data providers, data researchers, and the State Department of Health.
• Define and improve practices in trauma registry data collection, database maintenance, and quality assurance with full decision making authority.
• Write results of trauma registry analysis to be presented at quarterly regional QA Committee meetings. Assist in writing and editing technical reports and manuscripts for presentation.
• Independently formulate and guide plans for solving research problems presented by the PI and the regional QA Committee, including formulating hypotheses, analyzing data, and synthesizing and interpreting results.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field and three years of experience in computer programming, working with data structures, data management, and data analysis. Ability to work independently with little supervision and good writing skills.
Additional requirements:
At least one year of experience writing syntax for statistical software, such as STATA, SAS or SPSS is required.
Desired:
Masters degree in related field such as Public Health; knowledge of Collector software; oral presentation skills; reliable transportation and a valid Washington State Driver's license (mileage and parking will be reimbursed).
