As a mathematical statistician, your duties essentially
will include the design, development and evaluation of
survey and data-analysis methods in a technologically advanced
environment, working with experienced staff possessing
expertise in various areas. You may also be asked to work
on research projects in various areas related to statistical
methods. Throughout your career, you will be given a wealth
of training and career development. This training could
include topics such as advanced statistical methods, survey
methodology, informatics, communications and management.
You will also be able to further pursue your university
education. You will gain valuable practical experience
that will enhance your professional skills and will allow
you to advance to senior positions.

Qualifications
and other requirements
- have completed by August 2007 a university degree
from a recognized university with specialization in mathematics,
statistics or operational research (including statistics/computer
science and mathematics/computer science) or with specialization
in one of the physical, life or social sciences combined
with an acceptable number of courses (normally 20 one-term
courses/approximately 60 credits) in mathematics or statistics,
of which at least 5 must be in statistics;
- have a good knowledge of mathematics and statistics
(for example probability theory, mathematical statistics,
data analysis, sampling theory, survey methodology);
- demonstrate the ability to identify methodological
problems associated with survey development and data
analysis;
- demonstrate the ability to resolve statistical and
methodological problems and to apply statistical methods
to practical problems associated with survey development
and data analysis;
- communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in
English or French;
- show effective interpersonal relationships and tact,
motivation, initiative, reliability and good judgment.
