Manager, Business and Statistical Analysis - Nelnet (Lincoln, NE)
Job Summary: Responsible for developing and managing a team of business and statistical analysts in building models to address specific direct marketing business problems, developing analytically-based strategic recommendations, analyzing results, and adding value to the delivery of results. This person will interact closely with multiple areas within Nelnet and must be well-versed in understanding business issues and using analytics to develop strategy and tactics
Essential Functions: - Design and implement tests and analytics to measure the effectiveness of customer strategies - Analyze long term trends to discover opportunities for improvement in customer performance - Analyze customer data, demographics and primary research from internal research group to understand product usage and purchase behavior - Develop standard customer performance analytics and reporting to inform customer and brand marketing as well as customer strategies - Perform ad hoc customer analysis and reporting - Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver analysis in written reports and oral presentations - Nurture and bolster capabilities of analysts to become well-rounded business thinkers. - Use analytical tools such as SAS and Excel, and manipulate and analyze large data sets. - Use advanced statistical modeling techniques such as logistic regression, CHAID, and Generalized Linear Models. - Clearly identify how proposed solutions will drive value and develop methods to measure and optimize program/campaign effectiveness over time. - Identify and communicate opportunities to improve company performance by improving processes and/or adding company offerings. - Drive the use of experimental designs to measure the effect of testing strategies in all campaigns. - Respond with insights and answers to key business questions and hypotheses regarding direct marketing strategies.
Education: - BA/BS degree required / MBA or MS degree preferred in Statistics, Operations Research, Social Sciences, Econometrics or related field
Work Experience: - 5+ years relevant experience - 3+ years focused experience in data analysis, statistical modeling, data mining preferably for a direct or database marketing organization - Experience working with large online and retail/financial customer databases and building a team from the ground up highly desired - 3+ years management experience
Location: Lincoln, NE preferred. Will consider other Nelnet office locations such as Denver, CO, Indianapolis, IN, and Jacksonville, FL
