THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Director of Print Channel Marketing, the Sr. Manager, Direct Marketing Modeler, will be responsible for developing multiple customer acquisition targeting models and for conducting backend analyses (including model/segment performance, file attrition, retention and lifetime value) for solo direct mail, shared mail, FSI and package insert programs.
The successful candidate will have exceptional analytical skills, a strong understanding of offline direct response vehicles (direct mail, FSI, insert media), list/offer strategies and the ability to process and translate large amounts of data into actionable insights and recommendations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create targeting models and customer segments for direct marketing programs.
- Provide front end counts and analysis.
- Refine existing, and develop new, prospect segmentation.
- Measure, analyze and report key trends in model performance.
- Process and develop actionable insights from large amounts of data.
- Develop original recommendations through independent analysis of direct marketing data.
- Contribute database insights to ongoing direct marketing targeting and segmentation strategy.
- Develop a deep understanding and knowledge of the data warehouse and customer datamart.
- Effectively partner with data warehouse on large data infrastructure and tool development projects.
- Have a strong consumer marketing interest not limited to data analysis, but interest in all aspects of direct response including; creative, offer strategy & production.
REQUIREMENTS
- 5 or more years work experience - preferably in a direct response analyst role with a premier marketing consultancy, direct response or retail enterprise.
- Experience in creating original customer segments and models for marketing application.
- Expert in statistical analysis and experience with data mining tools, SAS Miner.
- Deep technical knowledge of current direct response techniques, strategies and trends.
- Exceptional analytic skills as well as a strong interest in all aspects of direct response marketing from creative development through post campaign analysis.
- Strong PC skills and proficiency with a variety of software applications, including SQL, Oracle Discoverer, Excel, Power Point and Word.
- A mind for effectively managing details.
- The ability to focus on projects to their completion.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
- BA required. Advanced degree in business, mathematics or statistics desirable.
