Direct Marketing Manager (San Francisco, CA)
BabyCenter is looking for a full time email marketing manager. The candidate will lead the company in improving the effectiveness its email marketing programs by instilling a process of list segmentation, message, offer and creative testing, measurement, analysis and reporting. The candidate will consult with internal clients developing campaigns, and review and approve all email campaigns prior to send. The candidate will be the focal point for institutionalizing best practices, managing use of the overall database, and measuring effectiveness of marketing efforts. The candidate will be a key user and advocate for the data warehouse, performing customer analyses, data mining and working with the analytics team to ensure that the data warehouse meets Marketing’s needs.
The candidate will be responsible for managing email campaigns for both the BabyCenter site and BabyCenter Store. The perfect candidate will have a mix of media and ecommerce experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive BabyCenter’s email marketing strategy focusing on behavioral, transactional and sequential email marketing programs.
- Continually test, analyze and optimize targeting, content, landing pages etc to increase open rates, click thru rates, RPE (revenue per email), and other key email marketing success metrics
- Compile and analyze performance data and metrics. Make recommendations for campaign optimization based on analysis.
- Recommend and implement best practices around email marketing, including quantity of email sent, unsubscribe methods, list hygiene and privacy policy issues.
- Drive data mining efforts for greater understanding of the customer and more successful email marketing campaigns. Develop, manage and optimize a segmentation model.
- Own key business metrics including unique visitors, revenue, average order size
- Develop customer contact strategies and generate campaigns based on customer life stage, purchase behavior and profile.
- Be a key member of the cross-functional team responsible for transitioning from internal homegrown email campaign management system to an ASP or software solution.
- Act as internal direct marketing consultant for different teams across company.
Requirements:
- 7+ years online direct marketing experience including at least 4 years email marketing experience.
- eCommerce marketing experience required
- Proven track record of delivering key business goals: revenue, traffic etc.
- Proficiency with direct marketing strategies, list segmentation, behavioral targeting, creative development, A/B testing
- Experience developing and executing sequential and triggered email campaigns
- Strong analytical skills
- Experience working with web analytics packages. Experience using Omniture a plus
- The ability to work on multiple, simultaneous projects while meeting internal client expectations and critical deadlines
- Expertise in email marketing best practices including list hygiene
