Senior Member of Technical Staff (San Mateo, CA)




Vendio is looking for a Senior Engineer to work on and enhance its research technology and products.

This person will be part of a core research team that designs and develops the next generation of Vendio’s research and analytics products. This involves building innovative technologies and architectures that can analyze large amounts (more than 1 billion transactions) of e-commerce data and build decision tools round it. You will also be responsible for building APIs and products that can make this technology useful to online sellers and buyers.

In addition, you will be involved in helping the product management teams come up with new products that can leverage the research and search technologies.

Qualifications:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, education, experience and ability required.
  • B.S. with 5 years or MS with 3 years experience in data analytics/mining, search technologies/algorithms and decision support systems.
  • Should have prior experience in managing large volumes of data and high performance and high traffic online systems.
  • Experience with inverted indexing systems and technologies a must.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in Java and J2EE technologies is a must.
  • Should be adept at working with databases (Oracle, MySQL) and file systems.
  • Thorough understanding of OLAP, data mining, ad-hoc query and reporting tools
  • Experience with middleware software like WebLogic, TomCat or WebSphere.
  • Good organizational skills. Good oral and written skills.
  • Must have strong Technical Depth, Inter-personal skills, oral and written communication skills, and an ability to think out-of-the-box.
