Research Associate - UCSF (San Francisco, CA)
RESEARCH ASSOCIATE: UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN FRANCISCO
The Research Associate (Analyst) will be a member of a UCSF team evaluating children’s health programs and policy approaches primarily in the areas of asthma, environmental asthma risk factors, health services for children, community development, and systems change. The objectives of these activities are to describe the dimensions of the interventions and evaluate the effectiveness using a variety of data collection strategies including surveys, site visits, expenditures, and assessments of collaborative efforts. S/he will be an evaluation liaison to community-based programs that aim to reduce environmental asthma risk factors for children. S/he will identify, locate, acquire, and manage research documents and data necessary for conducting systematic literature reviews and program assessments, conduct analyses of data related to children’s health programs and policy activities, assist in the development and administration of evaluation instruments to community grantees and statewide technical assistance grantees. S/he will work with UCSF faculty and staff, evaluation team members, and content experts in the state and country. S/he will also assist in interpreting the literature, the data, and in preparing the evaluation analyses.

REQUIRED
• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to act independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of and experience with issues related to health policy and health services
• Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research methods
• Strong computer skills (must be familiar with Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Experience with statistical analyses and programs (SAS, SPSS)
• Ability to travel within California
• Familiarity with policies related to the ethical conduct of research
• Master’s degree in public health, public policy, social work or related field, or equivalent background and experience
PREFERRED
• Experience working with community-based organizations and schools
• Experience and comfort with public speaking
