BI Developer, Microstrategy (Mill Valley, CA)


As a Business Intelligence (BI) Application Developer, your primary responsibility will be the delivery of reports and analytics functionality from our Data Warehouse. We currently use MicroStrategy as our BI tool. As a member of a process-oriented team, you will work with Business Analyst who gathers business requirements and a QA Lead who will create corresponding test plans.

Essential Functions:


  • Develop and maintain technical design documents based on business requirements.
  • Implement report requirements in MicroStrategy (Desktop and Web)
  • Object development, Object maintenance, Acceptance testing using MicroStrategy
  • User support in project development
  • Objects management and migration across environments
  • Interface privileges and customization administration
  • Provide ad-hoc technical support to the user community
  • Provide feedback/reports on system usage and potential bottlenecks
  • Interview key members of user community for compliance with requirements
  • Communicate progress and issues to the Project Manager
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager to ensure on-time completion

Skills, Experience and Education:

  • 5 years experience building schema and report components preferably in MicroStrategy Desktop
  • MicroStrategy MCD or MCE certification highly desired
  • 5 years experience developing and implementing business applications in a fast-paced data centric environment
  • General knowledge and understanding of financial services business rules and their applications within subject areas
  • Desire to work in a process-oriented team as a as a self-directed, self-motivated individual contributor
  • Customer-oriented approach to application development
  • General financial services industry knowledge is a plus
