Software Engineer (Louvain-La-Neuve, Belgium)


Presentation of the company : Rhea is an international company involved in a broad cross section of manned and unmanned projects across the space industry. We work closely with space agencies, spacecraft manufacturers and other industrial partners within this market sector and our main business is the supply of engineering expertise and software products.

Role : Rhea is currently searching for a Software Engineer to join our maintenance team in Louvain-La-Neuve. The candidate will mainly work on the MOIS software. Rhea has developed the software product, MOIS which is used extensively across the European space industry to reduce the cost of manufacturing, integrating and operating a spacecraft. MOIS is a suite of products which allows engineering staff to prepare, schedule and execute procedures used during assembly, integration and operations. Due to the diverse range of functionality and the various target platforms in use across the industry MOIS has been developed using several different technologies. The procedure preparation and offline scheduling environment is designed to work on Windows platforms and makes extensive use of MS Office and has been developed using COM (VB6) and .NET. The online scheduling and execution environment is designed to work on Windows, Solaris and Linux and has primarily been developed in Java. Typical work will include product maintenance and extensions of the procedure preparation toolset but also support to the customer.

Profile:
Mandatory Experience and Qualification

  • An engineering or science based degree that had a significant computing element.
  • Experience of software engineering, preferably with exposure to a formal development process
  • Knowledge of VB6 and/or VB .NET
  • Good written and spoken English

Other desirable skills include:
  • Knowledge of French
  • Object-oriented design techniques e.g. UML
  • Knowledge of Java language and API (Swing, RMI, CORBA)
  • Knowledge of XML and SOAP
