A Progressive actuarial pricing assistant applies knowledge of actuarial techniques to determine appropriate price levels on a state-by-state basis. You'll be a valued member of a team that includes the product manager, pricing manager and PRICING ANALYST. The work you do will result in meaningful changes to state insurance product design and rating factors.
Your work will lead to changes in Progressive products that may roll out on a countrywide level. While you work, you'll be learning about new aspects of the job from some of the best people in the business.
We're looking for people with a passion for details, sound financial judgment and who work well with others.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Extract and review data related to state-specific rate level reviews and projects
- Adapt to changes in regulations and practices.
- Execute actuarial models correctly and independently.
- Effectively communicate results and observations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree required with an emphasis in Finance, Mathematics, Accounting, Economics, or Statistics or equivalent preferred.
- Familiarity with business processes and system knowledge.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Must be able to learn on own in addition to formal training in order to contribute rapidly to the team.
- Demonstrated knowledge of mathematics, statistics, probability and/or principles of finance
- Ability to learn or basic understanding of MBI, Crystal, or other reporting tools.
- Ability to learn SAS and/or SQL.
- Demonstrated skills in Excel including the ability to create, manipulate and formulate spreadsheets.
- Understanding of database concepts.
- Basic MS Office skills.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
