Research Scientist, Risk - Numerica (Loveland, CO)

A Research Scientist II at Numerica participates on small teams conducting applied research and development in the area of multiple target tracking and data fusion for both US Government and commercial customers. Upon completion of project specific training by the company's management team, a Research Scientist II is generally expected conduct applied research and development activities without a lot of management oversight.

SKILLS/ ABILITIES

A successful candidate will have prior experience in applied mathematics, operations research, or industrial engineering. The candidate will work in the areas of discrete, continuous, and combinatorial optimization with applications to data/information fusion and resource management for sensor networks.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

The minimum education requirement for research scientists at Numerica is a Master of Science degree in one of the following disciplines: Applied Mathematics, Computational Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Operations Research, or other closely related fields. Candidates with a PhD are strongly encouraged to apply. Coursework in optimization, probability and statistics, and experience in scientific computing using object-oriented software design and C++ are highly desirable. Experience in target tracking, sensor data fusion, distributed optimization, or dynamic programming is particularly relevant to this position, but not required.

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS

Because of the nature of the work performed by Numerica, all applicants must be capable of obtaining a US Security Clearance. At a minimum, this requires you to be a US citizen and have a background such that a sufficient level of trustworthiness can be established (e.g. clean criminal history, reasonable credit, no use of illegal drugs, etc).
