Group Overview:
Charles Schwab Investment Management (CSIM) Fixed Income Research group conducts credit analysis and makes security recommendations for the actively managed Schwab money market and bond funds, and for fixed income managed accounts. The Research team monitors holdings for credit quality and adherence to regulatory requirements, and works closely with portfolio managers in assessing relative value for security selection and disposition. The Research team also plays an important role in setting investment strategy for the funds.
Responsibilities
The Junior Credit Analyst will be responsible for research of securities in the Schwab taxable fixed income funds. The structured finance research portfolio will primarily consist of Asset-Backed and Mortgage Backed Securities. This position will report to the Managing Director responsible for Structured Finance Research and will work closely with the fixed income Portfolio Managers.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in related field is required
- Analytical and mathematical experience
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Demonstrates ability to be a quick learner
- Highly motivated to expand personal knowledge base of Structured Finance Markets
- Well organized, problem solver, goal oriented, self starter.
- Ability to prioritize projects and make adjustments as needed; meet deadlines; adaptable
- Communication skills include ability to articulate ideas, opinions and strategies both verbally and in writing.
Additional Experience Preferred:- Buyside research experience, graduate degree, or CFA would be strong pluses.
- Candidates should have approximately 3 years of comparable research experience covering structured products and /or financial institutions
- Working knowledge of Structured Finance markets,
- Monitoring / Surveillance of Structured Finance Securities
- Cash Flow Modeling
- INTEX Solutions, Bloomberg and Microsoft Access software.
