Marketing Lead Statistician - Dell (Austin, TX)

We are seeking a Statistical Lead (SL) who will report to the Senior Manager of Analytics and lead a team of 3 statisticians to analyze, evaluate and measure marketing, consumer and general business efforts in the Marketing Department of Dell Inc. The SL will have a strong command of statistical processes and how to apply them in a business setting. As the lead statistical analysts in Dell’s Marketing Department, the SL must be comfortable not only overseeing and doing the analysis but explaining the implications to senior business leaders.

Responsibility

  • Manage a staff of three statisticians doing analysis that will help change the business.
  • This role is directly client facing and there will be a regular need to meet with internal business managers to gain direct insights to their business questions to ensure the challenge is clear.
  • Balance analytic rigor with the needs of the business
  • Be able to effectively communicate the results and insights of the analyses to different levels of business managers.
  • Apply quantitative methods including but not limited to: regression analysis, parametric and non-parametric methods and simulation.
  • Experienced with applying various types of distributions to analyses including, but not limited to: normal, bi-nomial, pareato, lognormal, exponential and chi-square.
  • Act as the “goto” resource for quantitative/analytic support for efforts such as sample size, test designs and hypothesis testing.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and be able to meet deadlines and effectively set expectations
Education/Skills
  • Advanced degree (MS or Ph.D.) in a quantitative discipline such as statistics, mathematics, economics or operations research
  • A minimum of 5-7 years using statistical analysis that directly supports revenue generating marketing or other business initiatives.
  • A minimum of 2 years managing at least one analytic resource.
  • Experience with a broad range of analytical processes including: time-series regression, neural networks, forecasting, CHAID, non-parametric, structural equation modeling, hypothesis testing and experimental design, hypothesis testing, ANOVA.
  • Strong skills with SAS and SQL.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products: Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Comfortable in a dynamic environment
