Managing Scientist, Statistical & Data Sciences (Menlo Park, CA)

An experienced statistician is needed to participate in diverse projects involving exploratory data analysis, statistical consulting and modeling, survey design and analysis, and expert testimony. Additional projects include risk analysis of fires, assessment of property loss, insurability, automotive safety, health risks, system reliability and failure probability, occupational injury and consumer product liability. As a member of interdisciplinary teams of scientists and engineers, this individual will assist in developing proposals, managing small- to medium-sized projects, and managing tasks of larger projects.

We are seeking an experienced candidate who has a MS degree or Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Engineering or Operations Research. Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate statistical concepts to a non-technical audience are essential. The ideal candidate will have business development skills with solid technical background. Candidates should satisfy several or more of the following criteria: (1) Knowledge of SAS is a plus, familiarity with SPSS or other statistical analysis programs desirable; (2) programming skills; and (3) experience in statistical analysis of information derived from large databases, from exploratory data analysis to statistical modeling, with emphasis on categorical data analysis.
