Sr. Statistical Modeling Analyst - Williams-Sonoma (San Francisco, CA)

Williams-Sonoma is looking for an individual with statistical modeling expertise to join its database marketing team. In addition to in-depth statistical experience, the ideal candidate will have a strong ability to lead, and a passion for developing state-of-the-art solutions to marketing challenges – both technical and non-technical.Primary Functions include:§ Exploring, developing and implementing customer behavior prediction tools to improve profitability and customer service across 7+ retail brands§ Statistical/database consulting to constantly improve the accuracy and execution of our targeting capabilities, modeling strategy, and marketing campaigns. Responsibilities include:§ Scheduling, building, managing and promoting statistical models using SAS and SAS Enterprise Miner. As chief modeler, ensure models are built on schedule and error-free.§ Developing and executing strategy to research and implement predictive modeling techniques and technologies that drive circulation of more than 500 million annual catalog and electronic contacts. Challenge modeling approaches in order to continually improve customer contact productivity.§ Guiding improved methodologies and strategy for statistical prediction of future business drivers (i.e. internet/email response, profit, LTV and cross-sell models.) § Contributing to the development of a cutting-edge data mining and modeling environment, utilizing the latest software tools and technologies. As a key user, direct ongoing database infrastructure development to optimize it for modeling.§ Conferring with business managers to interpret and evaluate business needs, integrate models into marketing strategies, and share findings such as key model drivers.§ Managing a schedule of regular model building/testing activities with a rigorous, multi-channel, multi-brand marketing campaign schedule. § Performing ad-hoc analyses/projects around marketing initiatives and communicate findings to appropriate corporate/marketing members and executives. § Consulting and communicating statistical modeling results and measures of business impact to internal WSI business partners and executives.§ Managing the application of statistical models in a live production environment.§ Testing and measuring the effectiveness of new statistical approaches and process improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Math, Operations Research, or other similar quantitative field required (Master’s degree preferred)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with SAS programming (3-5 years SAS BASE and SAS macro language) and/or other similar statistical software.
- Experience utilizing large-scale databases, SQL, UNIX, and relational database applications.
- Experience with response modeling in a direct mail or market research environment.
- 3-5 years related experience in applied statistical analysis and programming in a business environment.
