DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT – FEDERAL HEALTHCARE
REPORTING TO: Executive Vice President, Healthcare Informatics.
BASIC FUNCTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the business development in the Federal Health Care sector/market to include: the Department of Health & Human Services, National Institutes of Health, Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Military Health Services, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and the Office of the National Coordinator for Healthcare IT. Leverage the clients business knowledge and technical capabilities in informatics and data gathering & analysis, as well as data mining, predictive modeling/analytics, speech recognition and natural language processing, security and privacy in the development, application and marketing of system applications, software and custom solutions to solve current and future problems (in the Federal domain) relating to telehealth, clinical trial implementation and execution, claims fraud and abuse, electronic medical and personal health records, genetic & clinical data integration, biosurveillance and Joint Medical Information Systems. In the course of relationship building, prospective client networking and strategic positioning of the client’s solution capabilities, determine the target organization business issues that drive value, and recommend and guide their solution(s) execution. Use in-depth consultative selling skills, domain knowledge and understanding to align business objectives with senior executives in the Federal Health sector to bring awareness and brand differentiation to the value of the client’s solutions.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, results oriented business development professional who can create a vision in target organizations of how technology and the client’s core capabilities can shape problem solutions and deliver business value through systems, applications and custom solutions developed by the client. The successful candidate should have at least 10 years of health care information systems business development experience relating to healthcare domain problem solutions, as well as an intimate understanding of practice pattern analysis, need for quality outcomes, regulatory issues, safety and quality metrics, financial performance, and patient flow and monitoring. The successful candidate must have a proven ability to interact with senior level executives in the target sector and providing high level information and capability characterization to influence major decisions, and decision systems, across all aspects of the Federal Healthcare sector.
EDUCATION:
Requires BS, and an MBA, or MHSA (Masters of Health Services Administration) and preferably active participation in one or more of the healthcare industry’s organizations helping to shape and influence leading-edge thinking related to healthcare and IT (e.g., the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society, Personalized Medicine Coalition).
