Senior SEC Analyst (Deerfield, IL)
POSITION SUMMARY:
Prepares financial statements and disclosures, serves as the subject matter expert on the requirements of the SEC, FASB and similar organizations, and coordinates stock compensation accounting and earnings per share disclosures.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Statements and Disclosures - Prepares financial statements, disclosures and reports in accordance with requirements of organizations such as the SEC, FASB and AICPA.
- Coordinates and maintains operating lease database in order to develop disclosures of lease obligations including collecting information from operating departments, reviewing lease contracts, and analyses for expense or capitalization.
- Provides occasional assistance with financial statements and disclosures for corporate retirement plans.
Stock Based Compensation and Earnings Per Share - Performs periodic calculations of basic and diluted earnings per share, including the effects of stock based compensation. Also develops required EPS disclosures.
Compliance and Audit - Monitors the development of new and revised reporting rules and regulations and maintains a working knowledge of all accounting and reporting pronouncements of the SEC, FASB and similar organizations.
- Performs research and analysis on specific business and reporting issues as they arise, summarizing results for management.
- Assists with the annual financial assurance filing and escrow deposit accounts related to environmental agencies in Florida and Louisiana.
Accounting - Coordinates the accounting for stock based compensation, including use of the Computershare stock compensation administration system and the application of stock compensation accounting rules.
- Supports, as needed, the accounting for derivatives, retirement benefits and deferred compensation plans.
Other - Provide occasional assistance with monitoring compliance with financing agreements.
- Assists with other duties in the department as needed.
Internal Controls - Understands and complies with established departmental processes and procedures designed to support internal controls efforts. Identifies and brings to the attention of department management internal controls deficiencies.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelors degree in Accounting.
- CPA certification.
- At least 6 to 8 years of work experience in a combination of public accounting and private industry, including 2 to 3 years of substantial SEC reporting experience.
- Well-rounded knowledge of financial reporting rules and regulations, and the ability to apply business and financial concepts.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Peoplesoft general ledger system.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of management in a deadline-oriented environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Compensation: $90,000 - $95,000 annually
