Lead Program Manager – Microsoft (Redmond, WA)

Description: Join Microsoft in one of the most strategic positions inside of Microsoft – join as the Lead Program Manager of our Contextual Addvertising platform. In this position, you will manage a team of experienced program managers, partner with key business stakeholders, collaborate with Microsoft Research, and lead the engineering effort to build a next generation ad delivery platform for real-time auction based display ads. This includes the context extraction, ad selection, relevance controls, targeting, pricing, rendering, rank ordering, etc of the ad system. This also includes the inventory estimation tools that are used for advertiser budgeting/bidding. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with experience in both the online advertising industry and leadership of large-scale engineering projects. The ideal candidate needs to be able to balance the tradeoffs between the business/industry implications of feature-set/design choices with the corresponding technical implications of those same choice. The core of the job will be to help define the strategy, feature set and roadmap – and then to manage the project execution given resources. We are also looking for someone with passion for shaking things up in the online advertising industry as the goal of this position will be to create a platform that is a catalyst for industry change. We prefer a background in machine learning, information retrieval, applied statistics, computer science, and/or auction design - economics. Very few positions exist in any industry that provide such a platform for industry change and have the unique intersection of business, machine learning, high performance engineering, and leading edge economics.
