Director, Consumer and Category Analytics (Matthews, NC)
Job Description:
The Director of Consumer and Category Analytics will lead and coordinate the integration of disparate data elements into cohesive and relevant decision support tools that can be leveraged against category strategies and corporate initiatives. Establish and manage Consumer Data warehouse needs for enterprise use in support of merchandising and business development. Serve as key architect and IT liaison for consumer data needs, warehousing, updates/enhancements and testing Responsible for providing data integrity support including researching of issues, problem determination, solution recommendations and communication Coordinate the integration and warehousing of external Consumer and Market data Develop and lead comprehensive consumer and category analytics Create analytic tools that support and integrate consumer and category data across all merchandising support functions Space, Promotion, Pricing and Assortment as well as Strategy and Business Development Support of Category Management toolkit, including third party category management dashboards/templates, exception reports, joint vendor business plans, assessment templates, market basket data and DPP analysis Lead and manage enhancements to consumer and category management data needs (e.g. templates, metrics, applications, etc.) to meet the current and changing business needs Manage and develop data analyst teams (internal and supplier) Manage Family Dollar merchandising Analysts as well as vendor on-sites and off-site analysts on various projects and business reporting needs Responsible for development, training, education and support of all vendor information data collaboration programs Responsible to ensure that Family Dollar data is handled in a secure and authorized manor Manages AC Nielson, IRI and NPD data tools in support of third party elements in merchandising and strategic analysis Maintain and review the data relationship and hierarchy correlation between Family Dollar and its data partners for accurate reporting Provide Consumer and Category analytical support to the merchandising leadership team Conduct regular cross Division/Department/Category performance analysis Summarize and communicate key insights and observations to be used by the business in both planning and strategy Conduct Consumer Segmentation and Clustering analytics and recommendations to the business
Required Skills:
Prior experience and effectiveness in developing and leading comprehensive consumer and category analytics Proven ability to develop partnerships and collaborate across functions and across business divisions Proven skills in business process improvement, project management, and issue resolution Strong horizontal and vertical leadership skills and ability to contribute to a team environment with a proven ability to motivate others and create a productive work atmosphere Ability to multi-task and set priorities across a broad range of projects Ability to identify internal partners and develop processes and procedures that support business goals Excellent communication to different levels in the organization, with solid presentation skills Ability and pre-disposition to learn advanced query tools for circular and customer level data-mining and analysis Minimum Requirements: Education: Four-year college degree or equivalent experience; MBA preferred Experience: 7-10 years of applicable consumer and category analytics experience with a general merchandise retailer Software: High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
