J2EE w/ Machine Learning or Search Algorithm (Burbank, CA)

We are seeking a motivated software engineer with a strong interest in solving large-scale problems. We are interested in a background in machine learning, information retrieval and statistical analysis, with the ability to apply this expertise to enterprise applications. Your work will directly impact the quality of the sponsored search product and Internet Search as a whole.

Daily responsibilities include all software development life-cycle activities such as requirements gathering, design, documentation, implementation, unit testing and maintenance. As a senior member of the team, you will play a leading role in driving novel approaches and algorithms to large-scale, challenging problems. We are seeking highly motivated and creative problem solvers who have strong communication skills and are able to collaborate with other team members (including research teams), and communicate the value and technology behind machine learning to people with diverse technical backgrounds.

Basic Requirements:

• Solid grasp and foundation of the theory behind machine learning and information retrieval.
• Demonstrated experience in applying machine learning techniques (supervised learning, clustering) to large-scale problems and datasets.
• Experience or interest in search engines/information retrieval.
• Strong statistical knowledge and intuition.

• Master's degree in Computer Science or relevant field.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with people from a variety of technical backgrounds
