Senior Risk Statistician (San Francisco, CA)

General Description:

The Senior Risk Statistician will report to the Director, Analysis & Metrics, and will provide crucial intelligence and models needed to prevent and combat fraud in AdBrite’s global ad marketplace. As a key contributor, s/he will be challenged to uncover fraud behaviors and build accurate rules and models to detect them quickly and efficiently.

Reporting to: Director of Analysis & Metrics

Responsibilities:

  • Guide fraud-prevention strategy and tactics by data mining and diagnosing constantly changing fraud behaviors.
  • Build predictive features and models that detect fraud using advanced algorithms (neural networks, logit, cluster analysis, decision-tree, etc.) based on large, rich datasets. Iteratively test, refine, and improve features/models.
  • Aggregate, synthesize and analyze large amounts of data across databases and log files using SAS, Perl, SQL, etc., to provide analytical support in fraud prevention and detection.
  • Effectively manage various aspects of systems to ensure modeling and production infrastructure is optimized. The Senior Risk Analyst will work closely with a cross-functional team from Engineering/Product/Fraud to enhance systems, trouble-shoot issues, etc.

Requirements:
  • MS (or BS with equivalent experience) in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field
  • 3-5 years’ work experience in data mining, quantitative analysis, statistical modeling, machine learning, or other relevant field. Prior experience with risk/fraud prevention a plus.
  • Advanced technical skills with SQL, R, S-Plus, SAS or equivalent are required. MySQL knowledge is a plus.
  • Proficiency with databases and scripting languages (e.g., Perl, Python, PHP).
  • Entrepreneurial, passion for analyzing highly complex data sets, relentless customer focus, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and superb attention to detail
