Data Manager (Lincoln, RI)

The Data Manager participates as a member of our outcomes research team to ensure the development of QualityMetric’s world-class health assessment products. This position supports patient-based outcomes research projects (e.g., quality of life, functional status assessment, disability, satisfaction, etc.), and will effectively design, develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive databases for use in basic research studies and product development projects. Also, the data manager will be involved in maintaining large item banks for computerized assessment of health outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and refine a comprehensive program for data management
  • Design and develop a system directory/codebook to accompany each database
  • Design structure that facilitates database integration and revisions/upgrades
  • Manage and supervise data entry process for item banking
  • Ensure database quality control by defining accessibility, data entry, and management procedures
  • Ensure that the item level data is maintained in an accurate and up-to-date status
  • Track and report item content, format, parameter, and setting changes
  • Design and maintain data security and integrity policy and procedures
  • Document corrections, additions or deletions to databases (e.g., notations in all database records/directories)
  • Design, write, and implement report of database contents, and assist other staff in the production of reports and use of data
  • Train users with varying degrees of knowledge to effectively use the database system
  • Develop written training materials and other documentation (e.g., user’s guide) to support appropriate use of database contents
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for system users

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university, five years related experience with computers and database management or equivalent combination of education and experience is important.
  • Experience with report writing tools and advancement systems is required.
  • statistical knowledge and SAS/STATA programming experience required
  • Health Outcomes experience a plus

Qualifications

BA/BS or higher degree and at least 2-5 years experience with computers and database management. Knowledge of and experience with statistical software and outcomes research applications. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, supervisory and communications skills and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office software required.
