Analytics Application Developer (Rosemont, IL)

The Analytics Application Developer will design, implement, and test analytical cost modeling algorithms for use in real-time internet-based product. Primary focus for this position will be to help Akoya develop its second generation product platform. This will include researching and inventing new capabilities as well as porting algorithms developed in a statistical modeling environment to work in real time using SQL or Oracle analytics. The developer will be responsible for multiple aspects of the development life cycle including requirements gathering, research, design, code, test, integration and documentation. Must have a good attitude and be agile to change in a fast paced environment. 5 to 8 years experience required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

• Interacting with business analysts, client representatives, and other data architects to implement new features and enhancements into the analyticsengine.
• Work with Sr. Statisticians and the Business Intelligence team to turn analytics research into working real-time implementations.
• Determine testing strategies to validate that the new features have been implemented properly.
• Help analyze emerging technologies to determine if they are appropriate for use in meeting our business goals.
• Developing new data reporting techniques to aid in resolving data expectation issues with our clients.
• Documenting all work and coordinate changes with the production staff.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must possess a clear, concise communication style so as to interface efficiently and effectively with the customer and fellow technical personnel.
• Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to help drive the customer project. Demonstrated confidence and ability to relate professionally to a wide range of individuals. Commitment to excellent customer service.
• Able to work with minimal supervision and in both an independent and team environment. Ability to work in conjunction with third part development house and overseas outsourcing.
• Knowledge of at least one domain area where numeric/analytic algorithms are commonly applied (Econometrics, Quality Control, Engineering, Science, CRM, and Risk Modeling).
• Knowledge of Data Mining concepts and technologies.
• Strong analysis and decision making ability.
• Ability to deal and think with numeric solutions.
• Knowledge of the appropriate use of triggers, views, stored procedures, and indexes.
• Knowledge of Unix, Linux, and Windows 2003 operating systems
• Familiarity with other statistical packages such as R, S, Mathematica or Matlab
• Familiarity with statistical modeling, nearest neighbor algorithms, linear regression and 'should cost' analysis.
• Punctual, responsive, reliable and responsible. Self-motivated, enthusiastic and capable of developing a plan and the ability to execute the plan on time and within budgetary guidelines.
• Able to travel on an as needed basis.

• A Bachelor’s degree in a Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or Industrial Engineering. A master’s degree in Computer Science or related field is a plus.
• 5+ years of a commercial software development experience.
• Oracle application design & implementation, with emphasis on Oracle Analytics
• Experience with the Oracle PL/SQL suite of tools including PL/SQL (especially the math functions), SQL*Plus, impdp, expdp.
