BI/CI Senior Analyst - Microsoft (Redmond, WA)

OSG BI/CI is a centralized business organization whose goal is to increase data-driven decision making and analytical capability across the Online Services Business. BI and CI are key sources of competitive advantage for the online business, and we are looking for energetic professionals to perform complex extraction and analysis of our valuable web data.

The BI/CI traffic and audience analysis team resides within the BI/CI cross-network analysis team and provides analysis of web data for the Online Services Business. The team is looking for an analyst with solid SQL skills and an understanding of business fundamentals to perform data extraction & manipulation of data across our very large data store (Cosmos.)

The senior analyst will be responsible for:

• Understanding the structure of and data issues associated with web logs
• Creating and running PSQL queries against a large distributed data store
• Manipulating data extracts through effective cleansing and mapping techniques
• Ensuring standard data extracts are correctly loaded into analysis & reporting databases, automating where possible
• Performing ad hoc data extracts at the request of other analysts, providing guidance on data extraction techniques as needed
• Understanding how to apply various BI/CI systems, tools, and datasets to difficult business problems
• Making suggestions to other analysts on areas of business performance that could be investigated
• Pushing the envelope on the analysis of very large and sometimes very complex data sets

Proficiency with business fundamentals, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across functional teams is required. Experience working with large datasets (preferably web datasets, structured and unstructured) in an analytical environment is a must. Candidate should have 3-5 years experience in a technical or other quantitative role. BS/BA equivalent required.
