Sr. Research Analyst (Minneapolis, MN)
Salary: $55,000 - $75,000
Our client is looking for a Sr. Research Analyst that Provides leadership and direction for statistical research, analysis, and computing activities performed for our client's contracts and in the development of new products and services. Responsible for oversight and provides leadership for the analytical project work of other analytical staff personnel. Supports the organization's efforts to maintain an environment that reinforces our client's cultural values and provides quality information, services, and products to customers.
Position Responsibilities are as follows:
Project Planning - Takes a leadership role in identifying the statistical computing and analytical needs of the project team, working with team members to clarify project requirements and specifications. Prepares for clinical topics by reading clinical and epidemiological literature, developing a familiarity with the issues at hand
- Consults with team members on statistical issues (e.g. case selection methodology, definitions of numerators and denominators of incidence ratios, appropriate statistical test to measure significance, etc.). Acts as the analytical resource/expert to the team, is prepared to look at the "big picture" of the project and asks the appropriate questions to aid in the planning of the
- Develops, implements and evaluates analysis work plans according to criteria established by the project team. May also be responsible to oversee the implementation of the analysis plans being implemented by others.
Data Collection and Processing - Identifies data collection and processing problems and works with Information Services and project data collection staff to ensure their timely resolution
- Ensures the accuracy, validity and reliability of data and data processes (e.g. coding, collection, data entry, retrieval, synthesis, inter-rater reliability monitoring, and analysis of reliability test results). Works with Information Services staff to produce "clean" data
- Writes and updates statistical computing code used in processing information and statistical analysis. Responsible to maintain documentation stream of critical decisions used to resolve analytical problems, to include reference to data sources and steps used in the analysis to ensure accuracy.
Data Analysis - Performs analysis of clinical, administrative, and patient-reported data (e.g. baseline data, re-measurement data, data comparisons, etc.)
- Ensures the validity and reliability of analysis processes
- Ensures project requirements for data analysis are met
- Evaluates all project data using appropriate and accepted research methodology (e.g. assessing efficacy of HCQIP project intervention measures, target audience evaluation response)
- Uses appropriate software (SAS, Excel, Power point, Word, etc.) in order to generate statistical reports for targeted audiences, interfacing software as necessary to produce the reports.
Presentation of Findings - Writes technical reports, articles, and documentation of methods and analyses; ensuring that complex statistical data is easy to read and understand (by any audience);
- Produces maps, graphs and tables for use in project presentations to targeted audiences (e.g. project advisory and collaborator groups, CMS Regional Office);
- Make presentations on project methods and analyses before targeted audiences.
- Ensures all project statistical computing and analysis activities are evaluated against a consistent set of standards in order to identify opportunities for improvement and produce the highest level of performance possible.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES - M.P.H. or M.S. in health services research, biostatistics/statistics or other quantitative field (or equivalent) with at least 3+ years experience, epidemiological experience desired.
- Experience and demonstrated ability to provide work direction and leadership to other staff, specifically analytical/technical staff.
- Experience in applied Health Research, developing methodologies, and using principles of epidemiology.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and work with large data sets.
- Working knowledge of SAS required. S+ and SQL desired, as well as demonstrated experience with MS Office products, to include: Word, Excel, Access, Power point, Microsoft Project, and electronic scheduling and contact management. Demonstrate the ability to interface software, as needed.
