Senior Operations Research Analyst

The Senior Operations Research Analyst conducts logical analyses of business problems and information requirements and formulates mathematical models for solution. This position provides Operation Research services to resolve business and IT problems as assigned. The incumbent defines, researches and analyzes complex technical problems and modifies or creates models to assist with the decision making process. Solutions provided by this level regularly have a significant financial impact to the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Defines, researches and analyzes the problem to be resolved and recommends a solution detailing the design, cost and resource estimates for complex OR projects. Designs mathematical models and programs and performs related programming tasks to assist with technology related decision making. Recommends and designs improvements to production decision support systems. Evaluates the effectiveness of decision support systems including: user interface, data models, data communications, production processes, performance, and business data integrity. Assists yield and pricing management analysts with explanations of model results and creating database queries. Interprets data modeling results and assists in the development of resulting recommendations. Prepares detailed test plans and participates in the testing and implementation of the system and the interpretation of the results. Leads acceptance testing of new versions. Prepares or assists with the preparation of documentation for all systems and programs.

Required Experience

Bachelors Degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field. Advanced degree preferred, but not required. 3 to 5 years of experience in analytical or scientific programming, and past experience in an OR Analyst role.
