Strategy Science Specialist (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada)

Position Summary:
Responsible for planning and conducting statistical analysis and predictive modeling within the MasterCard Strategy Team. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of advanced statistical techniques, predictive model development best practices and strategy science trends.
Primary Focus:
The Strategy Science Specialist will develop predictive models as well as design and perform data analysis and model validation for MasterCard portfolio strategy development. This position is also responsible for applying analysis and models to strategy building and identifying new business opportunities.
Specific Accountabilities: - Apply decision solution standard statistical tools and methodologies to develop, validate, and implement predictive models to support card strategy development in the entire MasterCard portfolio life cycle (marketing, account acquisition, account management, collection).
- Develop pertinent analysis and reports to track and forecast MasterCard portfolio performance and trend.
- Direct the collection and cleaning of necessary internal and external data for model development, customer segmentation, and other strategic analysis required by senior management and business partners.
- Conduct financial analysis on key initiatives and identify the financial relationships.
- Summarize findings, make recommendations, and clearly present results to senior management and business partners to identify business opportunities.
- Develop new card strategies and recommend card strategy changes to senior management as the economic environment, competitive environment, or business objectives change.
- Thoroughly document the guidelines for turning the analysis and modeling results into business application and carry out quality assurance on all projects under the project framework.
- Maintain awareness of the latest industry best practices regarding decision science and card strategy development.
- Review external decision science & strategy development tools/products as they become available and assess their applicability to ATB business.
- Ensure compliance and privacy guidelines are strictly adhered to.

Designations/Training Required/Prerequisites:- 2+ years of experience in the credit card industry or financial services with strong analytical ability and a solid quantitative background.
- Excellent computer and programming skills in SAS, SQL, VBA, SPSS, Knowledge Studio, and other analytical tools.
- Good presentation and communication skills.
- An advanced degree in statistics, economics, operation research, business, finance, or mathematics.
- Good database experience with capability to handle large data from different sources and formats.
