Data Analyst, Financial Services Company (Arlington, TX)

Currently my client is seeking a Data Analyst to work for a growing fortune 1000 company in Arlington, TX.

Responsibilities / Requirements

This person is responsible for creating safeguards against risk through the continuous monitoring and assessment of business processes and internal controls, as well as global operational metrics for functional areas as defined by senior analysts or management.

  • Assist and support departmental reporting.
  • Creation and maintenance of production and ad-hoc management reports.
  • Ensure data integrity and usability.
  • Provide recommendations for report automation or modification as required.
  • Develop and maintain relationships ensuring business needs are met.
  • Assess and evaluate departmental output for business relevancy and accuracy.
  • Work directly with business unit Tier 1 support staff.
  • Develop working knowledge of corporate policies and procedures.
  • Develop working knowledge of corporate quality monitoring and operational metrics.
  • Coach, mentor and assist fellow team members to establish quality, accuracy, compliance to departmental standards, state and federal regulations and internal controls.
  • Provide and seek training from peers for cross-functional growth.
  • Guarantee availability to other department team members.
  • Highlight potential areas of concern with existing reporting to management.

Knowledge:
  • Analytical/problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative to recommend, develop and implement technology solutions.
  • Core business functions, policies and procedures.

Skills
  • Experience with 2 of the following preferrably SQL - Cognos, MS Access, Excel, SQL, PL/SQL, SAS and other data mining tools.
  • Plan, execute and improve work processes.
  • Understand corporate business; apply knowledge and critical thinking skills.
  • Analysis, judgment, logic and communication methods.
  • Integrity while successfully managing work demands and pressures.
  • Analyze and interpret business requirements and design appropriate reporting solutions.
  • Must be able to successfully prioritize and manage several moderately sized projects simultaneously.

Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or computer related disciplines or comparable work experience.
  • Minimum two years experience in the development and/or maintenance of operational or compliance reports.
  • Prior experience in a similar role in the consumer credit industry is preferred.
