Background:

Unilever’s Finance Academy plays a central role in shaping the future of Finance within Unilever. The Decision Analysis Group is part of the Finance Academy which has been developing and applying a wide range of Decision Analysis techniques, which are being rolled out through the Decision Making Under Uncertainty (DMUU) programme. These techniques have been deployed on probabilistic business cases and strategic decision problems throughout different parts of the business and functions in Unilever. The group is a central expertise resource which delivers an internal Decision Analysis consultancy service, providing both facilitative leadership and leading edge analytical skills to help teams work through complex business decisions. These tend to be the large, difficult and sensitive problems, high stake one-off decisions, or problems that cross organizational boundaries. The Group also leads the development and rollout of training courses for Unilever Managers in Decision Making techniques, and provides long term coaching to course participants.

We currently have 2 vacancies for a Decision Analyst, each with slightly different requirements.

These roles require the job holder to become an expert consultant, an experienced trainer / coach and also lead the development of specific aspects of the DMUU programme. Each job holder will be focussed on leading and delivering certain components of the DMUU programme.

  • To provide Decision Analysis evaluations by helping project teams to frame and structure problems, develop strategic alternatives / options based on information and elicited knowledge, quantify risk and recommend solution / options, which could minimise risk and maximise opportunities. These types of problems are typically initiated by senior managers or project leaders who have difficult decisions as there is no clear path or there is considerable internal conflict.
  • To work with other Decision Analysts in the development and rollout of training courses for Unilever Managers in financial decision making and provide follow-up coaching and support.
  • Identify and establish contacts with relevant groups within Unilever to ensure inward transfer of best practice and to establish appropriate collaborations to align relevant methodologies.
