Research Positions - Bell Labs (Dublin, Ireland)

Research topics may include innovative approaches to: the modelling of overall test strategy during the complete life-cycle of the product; developing alternatives to critical tests; predicting field-reliability of systems; modelling the reliability of failure-prone network components; and improving field-diagnostic ability.

Technical skills to draw on would include statistical modelling, Bayesian statistics, machine learning, data-mining, algorithms, and computer programming. Expertise in statistical computing, for example through R or Matlab, would be helpful. Familiarity with test-engineering related problems and/or modelling reliability would be a big-plus.

To be considered for this position, you should have a PhD in a related area with a strong publication record and/or significant experience. We are seeking candidates with a demonstrated ability to conduct independent research targeted to achieve specific corporate goals while also contributing to interdisciplinary, team-oriented projects. A successful candidate will be a versatile, hands-on researcher who exhibits excellent problem solving abilities. Excellent communication skills are essential. Candidates would be expected to publish research results in major journals and create strong collaborative associations with university-based researchers. Bell Labs Ireland opened approximately two and a half years ago and interacts closely with a number of University researchers in Ireland as well as with Bell Labs and Alcatel-Lucent locations worldwide.
