Master Black Belt - DuPont (Wilmington, DE)

  • Viton® fluoroelastomers

The Master Black Belt will serve as the Statistical leader for the lean lean Six Sigma work process and the corporate expert on statistics as it applies to lean Six Sigma. Provide technical leadership for corporate lean Six Sigma implementation efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the corporate expert on statistics and its application within lean Six Sigma. As the statistical leader for lean Six Sigma, provide strong support, education and guidance to the lean Six Sigma community on statistical analysis.
  • Serve as a resource to Black Belts who want to learn new statistical method to better apply the acquired lean Six Sigma tools.
  • Develop and deliver training for employees seeking Green Belt certification. Provide ongoing training for Black Belts. Teach lean Six Sigma strategies and tools to Green Belts, Black Belts, and Master Black Belts in the form of training and workshops (i.e., minitab, project databases, etc.). Continually develop and/or revise lean Six Sigma training materials to ensure applicability for the Company
  • Assist management and Black Belts select, prioritize, and define projects in support of business goals and customer needs.
  • Consult the business in efforts to achieve lean Six Sigma Project success and improvements and to meet delivery goals
  • Lead and facilitate lean Six Sigma work groups involved in the elimination of defects from existing processes, products, services, or plants by completing 1 - 2 projects per year
  • Conduct discovery process for global business team and work processes.
  • Provide direction and mentoring to Black Belts in obtaining a thorough understanding of defined, measure, analyze, improve, and control (DMAIC) and defined, measure, develop, and validate (DMDV) methodologies.
  • Remove project barriers for Black Belts (i.e., primary data acquisition and data analysis) and assist Black Belts in problem solving deficiencies in project design
  • Engage, interact, and serve as a resource to the organization in discussing the application of lean Six Sigma tools and resources (ad-hoc tasks, processes, projects,) .
  • Participate in the development and continuous improvement of lean Six Sigma principles and policies.
  • Execute lean Six Sigma project discovery process and provide business team training on the process and potential products.
  • Mentor Green and Black Belts
  • Actively participate in the lean Six Sigma Decision Board, the Black Belt and Champion Networks

Qualifications
  • Formal education in and/or demonstrated experience/application of statistics/statistical analysis is required
  • BS degree in engineering, an applied science, or a discipline that involves requires competency in quantitative methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to apply advanced mathematical problem solving method and statistical analysis in discovering solutions to business and process problems.
  • Black Belt Certification
  • Minimum 10 years of work experience highly desired.
  • Familiarity with the technical and manufacturing processes. Plant manufacturing experience is an advantage, but not required.
  • Previous experience leading project teams and/or team activities
  • Demonstrated ability to “learn the business” and become an expert in area of project focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and through others at a variety of levels & positions in an organization
  • Able to encourage others to think differently in resolving problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new systems, processes and procedures. Comfortable using Use information technology to create and deliver training materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and/or train others. Previous experience delivering classroom training helpful.

Preference for position to be in the Wilmington area. Travel about 25%. If position is not located in Wilmington area, travel will likely be up to 40% to 50% of time on a domestic and international basis.
