Senior SAS Programmer/Analyst (Santa Barbara, CA)

The Senior SAS Programmer is responsible for technical design, implementation, development and maintenance of Method scripts used in Thomson Healthcare products.
- Coding and testing: implement software to ensure correctness and completeness of function; adhere to software standards; write clear external and in-code documentation.
- Maintenance and support: perform trouble-shooting, make bug fixes, write and revise technical documentation.
- Identify and make process improvements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Training or course work in the fields of statistics, computer science, or information systems
- 5 - 10 years previous experience with structured programming languages.
- A basic understanding of data processing and file structure.
- Experience working with Excel, Access, or other spreadsheet.
- Advanced working knowledge of SAS, including DATA STEP and MACRO programming
- Previous work with administrative claims data (Medicare, Medicaid, or private sector) desirable.
- A strong interest in health research and attention to detail are also necessary
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to estimate and track project/task timelines.
- Ability to work independently in a team environment.
