Job Description

The Customer Experience group within the Marketing organization focuses on developing and driving initiatives that improve the overall experience of customers across the lifecycle of their interactions with the company.

This newly created position will help Symantec design and develop metrics and reports on our consumer customer activities. The person in this role should have a strong business focus and will be able to work with various stakeholders to understand their strategic vision and business requirements, and develop analyses that help them meet their goals.

The candidate hired in this role should have prior implementation experience with business intelligence, reporting and analytics. The candidate will have extensive experience with data analysis, data modeling, and BI data architecture, specifically around consumer data. This should include experience with transactional systems, as well as reporting and business intelligence experience that have provided the many business functional views of customer (360 degree views). He/she will interact with business owners to identify reporting and analytical requirements and work with IT or independently to create and maintain the reports. He/she will have experience in medium to large scale reporting and understand the unique challenges in scale. He/she will have extensive experience in creating ad-hoc, prototyping reports in a fast pace environment.

Responsibilities

The Senior Business Intelligence Data Analyst/ report writer works with business users to identify, document, and articulate business requirements for business intelligence initiatives. He or she uses deployed business intelligence capabilities or leverage raw transactional data to help business users analyze data and create customized reports and analytics.

• Develop a strong working relationship with the appropriate business users to understand the key business drivers and priorities
• Develop a broad understanding of systems (current and future) within the suite of applications and understand their integration to the BI solutions
• Provide analytical support to the BI user community
• Ad-hoc data query for various analyses
• Develop detailed functional specifications and requirements
• Ensure quality delivery of BI projects and operational enhancements
• Facilitate business requirements, prototyping and product workshop sessions.
• Create documentation to identify the scope of the business requirements and develop logical

• 6+ years of experience as an IT business analyst
• 4+ years of experience in the field of business intelligence (requirements & report development)
• Prior implementation experience (in a functional role) involving BI tools such as Business Objects to successfully solve real-world business problems.
• Demonstrated experience working successfully with business stakeholders and end-users
• Experience working cross-functionally in a matrixed environment
• Software industry experience preferred
• The candidate should have prior experience working on customer data integration and management initiatives in a leadership role and have a good understanding of CRM processes, and reporting, data mining and analytics.
• Excellent facilitation and communication skills and excellent team working skills
• Rigorous attention to detail and application of standards and process
• High self motivation and strong delivery focus
• Pro-active ability to work with business stakeholders to define business requirements and obtain user sign-off

• Experience with medium to large scale BI environments

• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Must be skilled in Oracle SQL report development
• Must be skilled in MS Access and Excel reporting (pivot tables, etc)
• Basic understanding of ETL (Informatica / Data Integrator) Tools and Design for ETL
• Sound understanding of Business Intelligence concepts and solutions
• Sound understanding of OLAP concepts and implementations
